And the Load-Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs.

How a Stack Rack Builds Your Warehouse

A warehouse is a living organism, constantly evolving and changing in the needs and necessities of what needs to be where, and how accessable different items need to be.  No matter what you sell, you need to have a versatile warehouse that can change with the tides of consumer demand.  You have to balance safety and speed and make sure that your employees can get their jobs done.  How a Stack Rack builds your warehouse is by giving you the ability to move your products quickly and efficiently and build your warehouse for permanence or fluidity.

Your warehouse changes from season to season and sometimes week to week.  Holidays come fast and furious.  You also have a constantly changing roster of employees that need to be able to find what they need to access quickly, and Stack Racks let you put these items where they need to be.

Stack racks are durable, portable, collapsible, shippable, low-cost stacking racks that reduce costly product damage associated with bulk stacking, offers better space utilization, product identification and easier handling of product.

Factory direct prices on new and used portable stacking storage racks, pallet stacking frames and rigid or collapsible corrugated metal containers move more material, cut handling time. Pallet stacking frames utilize air space, save floor space. Tier Rack style nest-able storage racks can safely stack up to 5 high. Bulk stack safely while preventing product damage. Stack racks have a high quality powder coat paint finish. Store difficult-to-handle items. Knock down or nests when empty. Attachable sides, posts, or end frames. Stack rack is excellent for tire storage.

Common terms for stack racks are stackable box, stackable container, stackable pallet, stackable racks, stacker, stackers, stackable storage bins, stacking bins, stacking pallet, stack and rack, or simply stacking rack. If you need some advice on selecting the best solution for your application. Please feel free to call us, and one of our knowledgeable sales representatives would be happy to help you. See why Tier-Rack has been the leader in stack rack since 1955.

Tier-Rack's portable stack rack is preferred to common pallet rack for many applications due to it's flexibility.  It can be bulk stored with no aisles to save space on non perishable items or condensed down and moved to a corner when not in use for seasonal items.  Stack rack can also serve to ship product out to customers or move product around your warehouse.

Used Stack Racks Make Your Warehouse Work

A new warehouse is exciting and frustrating.  You get all of this new space, sure, but how should it be laid out?  Is the building you can afford the one you require?  Will it have your amenities and space to grow?  The most important question though is how to lay it out.  Here are a few factors to examine as you develop your warehouse layout.

Equipment Size: Will your production machinery need more space than you anticipate, between its footprint and the employees that use it?

Get LEAN: This is a great time to restructure your operation.  Talk to the employees on the floor.  Ask them what they would change, how they would lay things out.  They’re there every day, ask them what would make the process more streamlined.

Height: Make sure that you have some vertical space, but not too much.  Stack Racks make it easier to utilize this space, but too much and you’re heating and cooling space for no reason.

Aisles: Start with measuring the size of your lift trucks.  Then give them adequate space on each side to get through.  Sounds like common sense, but we’ve been asked to design racks for companies that didn’t plan ahead and couldn’t get their trucks through.

Department Matters: You’re banking on your business growing, so why not build out in a way that can help facilitate that?  Make sure that every department has the room it needs to grow.  Often, one part of the operation ends up shortchanged (usually receiving) and it hurts the entire operation.

This doesn’t take into account all of the EHS factors of course, but it’s a great way to start getting your warehouse organized.  Tier-Rack can help as well.  We have experience designing custom racks and helping companies utilize their space, both in the horizontal AND the vertical.  We can help your company whether you’re moving in or redesigning.  Call us today at 800-325-7869 or visit www.tier-rack.com for more information.  Don’t live with frustrating racks and unusable space any more.

Warehouse Management Starts With Stack Racks

Everyone wants to know how they can build better customer service for their business.  Better customer service leads to more sales and higher profits.  One sure way to improve your customer service is through a better warehouse layout.  Don’t believe me?  Let’s look at how.

Smarter communications – Keeping a line of communications between your warehouse, the front of the house, and the customer is vital.  Having an organized warehouse that communicates clearly and efficiently with the other components of the company builds customer goodwill and support.  Keeping your warehouse organized helps accomplish this.

Constant change – Every industry changes day-to-day.  It’s a fact of business.  Warehouse management has to change with it.  Whether it’s new products, a change in focus, overstock from unsold products, or other issues, every day in a warehouse can change drastically.  Knowing this, having an organized, mobile warehouse can help weather these storms.  Stack Racks can help rebuild the warehouse on the fly, and keep your product flowing.  This keeps customers happy.

Product on the move – Everyone wants their product faster and faster.  With next-day delivery on the menu for many companies, shipping quickly is the name of the game.  Having an organized warehouse keeps your product moving in and out of the door, whether it goes to a customer or between your warehouses.

Smarter management – A clean, organized warehouse gives you the advantage of knowing what stock you have, where, and how much of it.  You can be assured that whatever you sell, you’ll be able to get out to people.  Finding your tock should never be a surprise.  The better organized you are, the better all of the above reasons work to keep your warehouse profitable.

Tier-Rack isn’t just the top storage rack company in the United States, they also make other products that help keep your warehouse safe and efficient year-round.  Call us today at 800-325-7869 and visit www.tier-rack.com for more information.  Don’t let your warehouse become a mess this year.  Let Tier-Rack organize it and save thousands, while getting certified U.S. Steel, made right here in the United States.

Safe Storage Practices For Stack Racks

We here at Tier-Rack Corp believe in a few things.  American-made products, quality materials, and the value of giving customers what they pay for come to mind.  But the most important thing we believe in is safety.  Tier-Rack has some rules that we like to send to customers to follow, in order to create a safer, more harmonious work environment.  Finding the balance between safety and productivity is difficult, and we feel that these rules will help your company properly use storage racks for any product, including tire racks, in a safe and secure manner.

*Do not carry more than one rack at a time. The racks are manufactured for static loads, not lateral loads.

*Always read the label on the rack for its weight capacity and stack height.

*Do not overload racks. Tier-Rack stack racks are engineered to withstand twice the capacity rate just in case this happens.

*Do not use racks with damaged posts or bases. This (as with any type of racking) will greatly reduce the safety of the racking. We suggest if posts or bases are damaged, to call us and we will make replacements for your racks. Then please recycle the damaged material as soon as possible, so no one will grab and use them.

*Do not stack any higher than is stated on the label. Each rack is engineered specifically for each customer's maximum weight capacity. If they are stacked higher than they were engineered for, it could cause safety problems for employees.

*Tier-Rack engineers each rack to store product(s) to a given specification that is printed on the label. These calculations assume the weight on the rack is evenly distributed across the rack. Basically, don’t store anything heavy on one side and lightweight on the other. I know it is common sense, but it is good to share this information with the fork truck drivers and employees that may load the racks with product.

*Do not fabricate (drill holes, grind, cut) the posts or bases of the racks without contacting Tier-Rack first. This can cause safety concerns down the road. We can have our engineers on staff calculate if these practices will affect the integrity of the steel and it’s performance short term and long term.

*If you lose a label for the rack, just give us a call and we can send you replacement labels for you. Our labels are heavy duty and last for years, but sometimes they are damaged and knocked off. This is important because it tells your workers the specifications for the rack. If the label is missing it should be replaced immediately.

*Please call Tier-Rack if you are going to ever use the racks for shipment in your trucks or trailers. We can determine if they can safely be stacked, or they may not be stacked while shipping.

We feel that following these rules will help keep your employees safe and sound in their interactions with our racks and will give your company a safer work environment.  Feel free to print this list for your workplace to let your employees know the guidelines for rack safety, so that they can be as safe as possible and keep your company moving forward into the future.  Visit www.tier-rack.com today

Is This the Used Stack Rack That I Bought?

Buying a Used Stack Rack can be a leap of faith.  You're buying a product on faith that it will function properly and that you will get the product that you ordered.  When you get the wrong color shirt from Amazon, you send it back.  If you get the wrong Used Stack Rack from some overseas company, you may be out of luck if they are non-responsive.  If you ask yourself "Is this the used stack rack that I bought?" then you probably didn't buy it from Tier-Rack, the most trusted name in Used Stack Racks.

Tier-Rack sales people are the first people you talk to when you call to order, and the last people you speak to after you place your order.  For example, when you purchase a used tire rack from Tier-Rack, the sales team takes your order and it's delivered to you.  Tier-Rack's sales team also follows with you every step - including helping to deal with inspectors and regulators if necessary.

However, not every company follows these guidelines.  There are horror stories about companies receiving 16 gauge racks instead of the 14 gauge that they have ordered.  How can you determine that you've gotten what you've paid for?  The only way to be sure, and this is with any rack company, is to weigh.  Ask your supplier what the weight should be on these racks, and weigh them when they arrive.  Don't take delivery on racks that come in too light, as that means that the supplier has skimped on the metal, and delivered you an inferior product.  Many racks, particularly those manufactured outside of the US, suffer from lighter gauge tubing and inferior manufacturing, and will not hold up over the long run.

Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for almost sixty years. The original Tier-RackR pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load-NesterR all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our portable stacking racks and rack systems are designed to handle and store even the most fragile, odd-shaped, and awkward merchandise. They can be designed to transport two loads at a time. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack up to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of

pounds per unit load. All Tier-Rack racks are engineered with a "2-to-1" safety factor to ensure the racks will perform safely and last for decades. For more information, visit http://tier-rack.com today.

Move your Warehouse Operation into Spring

With Spring around the corner, it's time to take a look at your warehouse and make sure that you are set up properly for the future of your business.  With warmer weather, you can move out the Winter products and get your Spring and Summer items towards the front, if you have a mobile warehouse.  What I mean by a mobile warehouse is a building with portable racks that can be combined into different configurations and moved around your warehouse to fit your needs.  Tier-Rack Stack Racks are the best way to move your warehouse operation into Spring and keep it fresh and productive.

Tier-Rack Stack Racks are a system of stackable racks that can be used to completely reorganize your warehouse, ship your products more efficiently, rotate your items quickly, and take advantage of the height of your space, not just the floor's area.

Reorganize Your Warehouse

Tier-Rack Stack Racks can be moved through the warehouse and fit into nearly any configuration that you can imagine, stacked five high, cubed out in a truck, or spread out however you want.  They can be moved with a forklift with your products safely aboard, to speed up the process.

Ship Your Products More Efficiently

You can use Tier-Rack Stack Racks to move your products from spot to spot in your warehouse, but why stop there?  Instead of loading and unloading the products, load them in the truck on the Stack Racks, getting your products in and out faster and letting your warehouse staff concentrate on getting your items in the hands of the customers.

Rotate Your Items Quickly

When the weather changes, so do buying habits.  Wouldn't you love to be able to put your current most popular products up front right away instead of spending a whole day taking things off of shelves and moving them to different shelves?  Just move the whole rack!

Take Advantage Of The Height Of Your Space

Tier-Rack Stack Racks stack 5 high, letting you store products higher and safer than ever before.  You can use every square inch of space you have, instead of looking at that area above your racks and wishing you had something stored there.

Let Tier-Rack show you how to move your warehouse into the future and set you up for success.  Call us today at 1-800-325-7869 or visit www.tier-rack.com today to learn more.

The Rules For Modern Warehouse Management

Organizing a warehouse is a constant struggle.  You have to know what to prioritize to maximize efficiency and profit while keeping the building safe is the something that takes constant monitoring to get right.  However, if you follow these rules, you can keep your warehouse and its occupants and products safe and happy.

  • 1. Keep your products organized by product type.  Keep tires with tires, gaskets with gaskets, and widgets with widgets.  Don't make your guys hunt for what they need.
  • 2. Give a walkway by organizing neatly.  Don't ever let product spill off of shelves or you will have peoplle hurt and product damages.
  • 3. If you aren't using space, make sure you know what to do with it.
  • 4. Excess product and older items need to be cycled to less-accesable areas.  This frees up your closer racks for the product that has to move quickly.  Keep track of what is selling/being used and rotate accordingly.
  • 5. Keep consistent patterns, but don't get stuck to a fixed grid.  If you say that a particular thing has to be in one area, you can waste space, but you can also waste time searching for products you use every day.  Find that balance for YOUR warehouse and develop a strategy for how to keep the warehouse running.

Let us show you how our years of manufacturing experience can provide you with quality car tire racks at a very affordable price. We buy steel tubing directly from the tube mills in truckload quantities. Then our talented and efficient teams in our low overhead production facilities transform the steel tubing into high quality portable racks that have been designed to meet your needs. Give us a chance to prove to you that nobody does it better than Tier-Rack! Whether you need 100,000 tire racks or 10 tire racks, Tier-Rack is your best choice.

Tier-rack's Lessons on Rack Storage

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE

CantileverPicture5

Are you suffocating under your supply?  Is your warehouse a mess?  Do you feel like you’re just not organized, and it’s keeping your warehouse from being the efficient system that it should be?  You’re not alone.  Many companies are using outmoded storage systems that don’t give easy access to your products, or have flexible solutions to your particular warehouse space.

Proper shelving will make your company more profitable, simply by maximizing your space. Who needs an expensive warehouse expansion, or a relocation to a new building? Using racks that are portable gives you more ways to utilize your available space. With more product on hand and a safe way to keep it organized, your operation can excel to new heights with the right shelving unit!

Here’s a quick look at some of the most popular types of industrial shelving to get you started.

Tier-Rack® portable racks are used by thousands of customers in hundreds of industries. Some of our customers use our portable stacking rack as standard warehouse racks, or as a stacking bin. In this case they place their product directly on our mobile rack and save the cost of wooden pallets.

The protection provided by the corner posts of the portable rack is a primary benefit. Bulky or hard-to-stack products are contained within the corner posts of the mobile storage racks. This provides stability for goods on the portable pallet when moving it within the warehouse or factory.

Others who use wood pallets and need to stack without causing product damage, find that our Tier-Rack® Pallet Stacking Frames fits their needs. The steel frame of the Tier-Rack® stacking rack clips onto the wood pallet, providing a secure “cage” that both allows the pallets to be safely stacked and protects the products within the rack enclosure.

Another use of portable storage racks is for handling work-in-process parts; a metal bin that holds several parts at one time, reducing plant traffic. They are custom racks designed to meet your needs, whether the parts to be handled are delicate or massive. Usually, these parts racks are designed as folding racks or collapsible racks.

Nestable racks are another type of portable stacking racks. These racks can be “nested”, or stacked inside of each other when empty, without removing the corner posts. Our Load-Nester® stacking racks nest when not in use, and carry and stack loads of 4,000 pounds per rack or more. This can be beneficial in an active warehouse where unused space is at a premium.

Whatever the application, whether it is for portable stack rack shipping racks, nesting racks, portable cart or warehouse storage racks – Tier-Rack has a portable stack rack that will do the job.  Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for almost sixty years. The original Tier-Rack® pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load- Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our portable stacking racks and rack systems are designed to handle and store even the most fragile, odd-shaped, and awkward merchandise. They can be designed to transport two loads at a time. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack four to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of pounds per unit load. All Tier-Rack racks are engineered with a "2-to-1" safety factor to ensure the racks will perform safely and last for decades.  For more information, visit www.tier-rack.com or call 800-325-7869 for more information, or to order your racks.

It’s a hot summer.  Nothing slows down production like a heat wave in your warehouse.  Think about it though – couldn’t your warehouse run more efficiently and quickly if the workers are comfortable?  As anyone who runs a warehouse can tell you, being uncomfortable leads to rushing leads to mistakes.  Here are a few ways to deal with warehouse heat and humidity to help make your warehouse run more efficiently through the summer.
What can you do
1.    Install high-volume A/C units.  Fastest and safest method to reduce heat and humidity.  May not be as effective if you have large bay doors that are open constantly, and doesn’t help outdoor workers.
2.    Some machinery is prone to overheating.  Make sure that if you have conveyor belts or other machinery that doesn’t perform well in the heat, try to keep it in the cooler parts of the building.
3.    Know your employees and workforce.  Not everyone handles the heat as well as others.  If you have employees that have trouble with the heat, consider moving them to a cooler area or giving them frequent breaks.
4.    Watering stations can really help with cooldown.  Keep stations at regular intervals and assign employees and resources to keep them filled.  An employee with heatstroke is a serious matter.  Not just lost work time, but a human being hurt in your warehouse.  If you see signs of heatstroke, or your employees do, rectify that right away.  Tell your employees to watch for signs such as dizziness and loss of breath.
5.    Lock in the cool air.  Vinyl strips can keep in as much as 60% of your cold air without disrupting the workflow of your warehouse.
6.    Industrial dehumidifiers are a huge comfort to employees. Taking the humidity down makes an immediate difference in the health and comfort of your workforce.

These are just some of the ways that you can make your warehouse more comfortable and effective.

Warehouse Racks Have Weight Limits. Obey Them!

CantileverPicture5

Overstacking a rack is dangerous. whether it's for tires, general goods, giant coils, grains, or whatever, there's a weight limit that your rack was built to specifications for.  This weight limit, however, isn't always easy for warehouse managers to convey to their employees, regarsless of how important it is to warehouse safety.  There may be a missing link in the chain of information, where the manager creates a sign which is covered by something else, or the lessons get lost in the shuffle of employee turnover.  However, this important lesson needs to be imparted at every level, as no company can afford for their inventory to crash to the floor.

Overstacking isn't the only problem though.  Racks can be weakened by collisions with forklifts, by improper stacking, by being in improper configurations or environments, or they may arrive in an unsatisfactory condition.  This last one, however, is one that Tier-Rack Corp can fix.  Every rack manufactured by Tier-Rack Corporation meets their highest safety and manufacturing specs, and are manufactured here, in the United States, of the finest metals and techniques at their manufacturing factories.

Warehouse Safety Tips From Tier-Rack

boxes4high

We here at Tier-Rack Corp believe in a few things.  American-made products, quality materials, and the value of giving customers what they pay for come to mind.  But the most important thing we believe in is safety.  Tier-Rack has some rules that we like to send to customers to follow, in order to create a safer, more harmonious work environment.  Finding the balance between safety and productivity is difficult, and we feel that these rules will help your company properly use storage racks for any product, including tire racks, in a safe and secure manner.

*Do not carry more than one rack at a time. The racks are manufactured for static loads, not lateral loads.

*Always read the label on the rack for it’s weight capacity and stack height.

Each rack is engineered specifically for each customers maximum weight capacity.

We feel that following these rules will help keep your employees safe and soound in their interactions with our racks and will give your company a safer work environment.  Feel free to print this list for your workplace to let your employees know the guidelines for rack safety, so that they can be as safe as possible and keep your company moving forward into the future.  Visit www.tier-rack.com today for all of your warehouse needs.
