Stack Racks Store and Move Your Products

Are you suffocating under your supply?  Is your warehouse a mess?  Do you feel like you’re just not organized, and it’s keeping your warehouse from being an efficient system that it should be?  You’re not alone.  Many companies are using outmoded storage systems that don’t give easy access to your products, or have flexible solutions to your particular warehouse space.

Proper shelving will make your company more profitable, simply by maximizing your space.  Who needs an expensive warehouse expansion, or a relocation to a new building?  Using racks that are portable gives you more ways to utilize your available space.  With more product on hand and a safe way to keep it organized, your operation can excel to new heights with the right shelving unit!

Here’s a quick look at some of the most popular types of industrial shelving to get you started.

Tier-Rack® portable racks are used by thousands of customers in hundreds of industries. Some of our customers use our portable stacking rack as standard warehouse racks, or as a stacking bin. In this case, they place their product directly on our mobile rack and save the cost of wooden pallets.

The protection provided by the corner posts of the portable rack is a primary benefit. Bulky or hard-to-stack products are contained within the corner posts of the mobile storage racks. This provides stability for goods on the portable pallet when moving it within the warehouse or factory.

Others who use wood pallets and need to stack without causing product damage find that our Tier-Rack® Pallet Stacking Frames fits their needs. The steel frame of the Tier-Rack® stacking rack clips onto the wood pallet, providing a secure “cage” that both allows the pallets to be safely stacked and protects the products within the rack enclosure.

Another use of portable storage racks is for handling work-in-process parts; a metal bin that holds several parts at one time, reducing plant traffic. They are custom racks designed to meet your needs, whether the parts to be handled are delicate or massive. Usually, these parts racks are designed as folding racks or collapsible racks.

Nestable racks are another type of portable stacking racks. These racks can be “nested”, or stacked inside of each other when empty, without removing the corner posts. Our Load-Nester® stacking racks nest when not in use, and carry and stack loads of 4,000 pounds per rack or more. This can be beneficial in an active warehouse where unused space is at a premium.

Whatever the application, whether it is for portable stack rack shipping racks, nesting racks, portable cart or warehouse storage racks – Tier-Rack has a portable stack rack that will do the job.  Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for almost sixty years. The original Tier-Rack® pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load- Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our portable stacking racks and rack systems are designed to handle and store even the most fragile, odd-shaped, and awkward merchandise. They can be designed to transport two loads at a time. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack four to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of pounds per unit load. All Tier-Rack racks are engineered with a "2-to-1" safety factor to ensure the racks will perform safely and last for decades.  For more information, visit www.tier-rack.com or call 800-325-7869 for more information, or to order your racks.

Shipping Racks Work Great in the Winter

As winter freezes over, shipping and warehouse issues become difficult.  It's hard to work in a really freezing warehouse, so you want to have your materials ready to move and available.  That's where using top-quality Shipping Racks will push your business to new heights.  Using Shipping Racks that are designed to cube out a truck or to be moved quickly in and out of your facilities can cut time off of your employees' day and keep them out of the dangerous cold.  Using Shipping Racks just makes sense.

Let us show you how our custom designed shipping racks can help you cube out a trailer or shipping container and save on shipping costs. Calculate your ROI using our cost-saving shipping containers and you will see what a value they offer. We offer total design services for these stackable shipping racks, including AutoCAD® drafting. Often we can design a custom rack with no more than a prototype of the part to be shipped. Our product design team will deliver a solution that will hold your items securely in a cost-effective stack rack. Many types of interior protective dunnage are used to keep your parts from being damaged during transit.

We can design racks to span the width of a trailer often called Truck Decking, or racks to hold individual pallet loads sitting side by side like automotive racks.  Often these shipping racks or shipping containers are designed with sides that can fold down. This allows empty racks to be stacked more densely for lower freight costs on the return trip. This also prevents the rack posts from being misplaced in shipment. Whether your products are light and fragile or heavy and awkward to handle, we have the experience to help you move your parts safely.

Past applications include the following:

  • Transmissions
  • Hoods
  • Catalytic converters
  • Side panels
  • Glass
  • Palletized and boxed items

Let us show you how our years of manufacturing experience can provide you with quality shipping racks, truck decking and returnable racks at a very affordable price. We buy steel tubing directly from the tube mills in truckload quantities. Then our talented and efficient teams in our low overhead production facilities transform the steel tubing into high-quality portable racks that have been designed to meet your needs. Give us a chance to prove to you than nobody does it better than Tier-Rack! Whether you need 100,000 racks or 10 racks, Tier-Rack is your best choice for stacking shipping racks, storage bins, utility racks, and shipping containers.

Tire Rack baskets For Heavy Duty Tire Storage

Tires can be a difficult storage issue.  As a product, they are malleable and soft, yet need to be perfectly round and flawless for customers to avoid blowouts.  An improperly stored tire is a ticking time bomb that can lead to blowouts, accidents, and deaths.  Finding the medium between storing tires safely and cost efficiency can be hard to discover.

That's where Tier-Rack Corporation can help.  Tires can be stored on racks, but is there another way to store tires effectively in a rack beside straight up and down or stacked?  The Tier-Rack Tire Rack Basket answers this question.  Wire baskets across the boards of the racks hold tires in place safely, while the wires are spaced to create a safe landing area that supports and cradles the tires, keeping them from developing "dead spots" and warping.  This ensures that whether tires are being stored for customer use or as part of fleet maintenance, that all tires will be stored safely.

Since 1955, Tier-Rack Corp has used their Tier-Rack storage system to store tires, boxes, fabric, pipe, electronics, bicycles, furniture, food, beverages, and almost any product that can be kept in a warehouse.  Any company that uses pallets can use this product, which stacks frames on top of your existing wood pallets to create vertical space. These will allow a company to stack 3 to 5 loads of crushable of fragile products, as well as an awkward, non-stackable product.

When the frames aren't being utilized, they take up a small amount of space, folding down to conserve your precious warehouse space.

Make Your Warehouse Like New With Stack Racks

A new warehouse is exciting and frustrating.  You get all of this new space, sure, but how should it be laid out?  Is the building you can afford the one you require?  Will it have your amenities and space to grow?  The most important question though is how to lay it out.  Here are a few factors to examine as you develop your warehouse layout.

Equipment Size: Will your production machinery need more space than you anticipate, between its footprint and the employees that use it?

Get LEAN: This is a great time to restructure your operation.  Talk to the employees on the floor.  Ask them what they would change, how they would lay things out.  They’re there every day, ask them what would make the process more streamlined.

Height: Make sure that you have some vertical space, but not too much.  Stack Racks make it easier to utilize this space, but too much and you’re heating and cooling space for no reason.

Aisles: Start with measuring the size of your lift trucks.  Then give them adequate space on each side to get through.  Sounds like common sense, but we’ve been asked to design racks for companies that didn’t plan ahead and couldn’t get their trucks through.

Department Matters: You’re banking on your business growing, so why not build out in a way that can help facilitate that?  Make sure that every department has the room it needs to grow.  Often, one part of the operation ends up shortchanged (usually receiving) and it hurts the entire operation.

This doesn’t take into account all of the EHS factors of course, but it’s a great way to start getting your warehouse organized.  Tier-Rack can help as well.  We have experience designing custom racks and helping companies utilize their space, both in the horizontal AND the vertical.  We can help your company whether you’re moving in or redesigning.  Call us today at 800-325-7869 or visit www.tier-rack.com for more information.  Don’t live with frustrating racks and unusable space any more.

Folding Racks Relieve Cramped Warehouses

Creating space is a constant struggle for most businesses.  Finding the balance between being able to properly store your product and having it available is essential, especially with sensitive parts like tires.  These give rise to new problems - how can I store tires in a small area without damaging them?  How can I find space for these large cases when they AREN'T filled with tires?  This is where a folding tire rack from Tier-Rack Corp becomes an essential for your storage needs.

The Tier-Rack folding tire rack folds down to become an easily-stored piece of equipment, one that gives an immediate relief to the space woes that a warehouse encounters during operations, and in changes of seasons and inventory.  The folding tire rack is stackable when engaged, and folds down to conserve space.

Since 1955, Tier-Rack Corp has used their Tier-Rack storage system to store tires, boxes, fabric, pipe, elecronics, bicycles, furniture, food, beverages, and almost any product that can be kept in a warehouse.  Any company that uses pallets can use this product, which stacks frames on top of your existing wood pallets to create vertical space. These will allow a company to stack 3 to 5 loads of crushable of fragile products, as well as awkward, non-stackable product.   When the frames aren't being utilized, they take up a small amount of space, folding down to conserve your precious warehouse space.

Tire Racks For Care and Storage

It's a perennial issue with extra sets of tires and/or wheels: What's the best way to store them when they are not being used? Many people store tires improperly, and this can often shorten the life of your tires.

The essential problem here is outgassing: as the rubber ages it loses volatile oils through the outer layers of the tire. Normally, the flexing motion of the tire tends to keep the oils evenly distributed throughout the rubber, so that outgassing is a minor issue. But when tires are stored for long periods of time without that flexing motion, outgassing must be kept to a minimum to avoid drying out the outer layers of rubber to the point that they begin to crack instead of flexing. We call this pattern of cracking rubber that develops over time “dry-rot” and it's a sign of approaching doom for your tires. Here are the best ways to avoid it if you are storing your tires or even a whole car over a season or longer.

Get the Weight Off

If you're storing a car for any period of time, it's best to put it on jack stands and take the wheels off to store separately.

Keeping the weight of the car on just one area of the tires can help to flatspot the tires and the constant flex on only one portion of the tire can prematurely age the rubber. There are a few different gadgets out there which are supposed to help avoid flatspots, such as curved plastic tire rests that you drive the car onto, but these are extremely expensive and do not work nearly as well as good old inexpensive jack stands.

Clean Them Up

When you take tires or wheels off the car, this is often the best time to clean them,as you will have much easier access to areas that are less accessible with the wheels on the car. Tires can simply be cleaned with mild soap and water if necessary. Wheels can usually also be cleaned with mild soap and water, or with a non-corrosive, non-acid wheel cleaner such as Auto Magic MAGnificence, P21S or the like. Do not use any cleaner that instructs you to remove the cleaner within minutes, as this is usually an acid-based product. Do not use chemicals like tire shine or tire dressings before storing your tires. Make sure that wheels and tires are cool to the touch before cleaning, and make sure that they are completely dry before storing.

Tag and Bag

Mark the tires with the position they were removed from – I suggest using LF, RF, LR, RR on the inboard sidewalls – so you can replace or rotate them in the proper positions next season. I use a Markal B Paintstick to write on tires and rims.

Put the tires in large plastic garbage bags and try to remove as much air as possible before sealing them with tape. If the tires are wet or snowy let them dry completely before bagging them, in order to keep moisture out of the bags as much as possible. If you really want to completely prevent outgassing, there are storage bags with valves that can be hooked up to a vacuum cleaner to provide a near-airless environment for each tire. It's probably overkill, but relatively inexpensive overkill can still be fun.

Store In a Cool Dry Place

Tire rubber is built to soak up heat, and black rubber left outside will soak up solar heat remarkably quickly. Tire rubber is also built to dissipate heat quickly, but with heat dissipation comes high levels of outgassing that will quickly dry out the rubber. Store tires out of the sunlight, preferably in an area like a basement that is climate-controlled and moisture free. Garage or outdoor storage should have as little temperature changes and/or extremes as possible.

Whitewall to Whitewall

If you have whitewall tires or white-lettered tires, you should definitely bag them to avoid discoloring the white parts. But if you can't bag them or if you're just stacking them up to get bagged, stack them whitewall to whitewall. The rubber on the whitewall side is treated to avoid staining the white parts. The rubber on the back sidewall is not.

Tire Racks For Your Storage Needs

Tires are a year-round product.  From punctures to wear to accidents, tires are constantly needing replacement.  However, there are parts of the year, where, traditionally, more tires are sold.  How to know when to store tires is very important, as having tires on your tire racks is the most important part of selling them.  But when are the times that tire sales spike?  The answer lies in knowing when people need them.

The two main parts of the year for tire consumption are April and October.  In April, companies often drop prices on tires in order to encourage customers to replace tires before those summer road trips.  Nothing spoils a drive to a theme park like a flat tire.  In October, companies try to encourage replacing worn tires that may become dangerous during winter weather.  Nobody enjoys changing a flat on the side of the road in the snow, and worn tires, sans grip, are deadly in snow and ice.

How can you be prepared as a retailer? Tier-Rack Corp of St. Louis, MO has been providing custom designed and manufactured tire racks since 1955.  Tier-Rack has created hundreds of customized racks for every shape and size of tire, using wire mesh and perforated decking to support the tires while keeping them from warping during long periods of non-use.  Let us show you how our years of manufacturing experience can provide you with quality earthmoving machine tire racks at a very affordable price. We buy steel tubing directly from the tube mills in truckload quantities. Then our talented and efficient teams in our low overhead production facilities transform the steel tubing into high quality portable racks that have been designed to meet your needs. Give us a chance to prove to you that nobody does it better than Tier-Rack! Whether you need 100,000 tire racks or 10 tire racks, Tier-Rack is your best choice.  Visit www.tier-rack.com today!

A Nesting Rack Saves Space

A Nesting Rack used in your warehouse saves space for you.  It's a rack that works as both a Movable Rack and a nestable one - it helps out in bulk storage and is often used for bulk bag storage in warehouses.  If you need to store assets in this way, the Nesting Rack is the way to go.

Sometimes these racks are called a nestainer, jarke cupl-up, nestrack, nesting bin, nestable pallet, or nestable pallets. They can hold heavy loads (they are typically stacked in columns of 4 or 5 racks, with each rack holding 2,000 to 4,000 pounds). Empty racks and bins can be "nested" - one rack set inside another rack - up to 6 or 7 at a time. They are a storage system that saves time because the empty racks can be nested by one fork lift operator. A bundle of nested bins occupies less space than empty standard heavy duty pallet rack. The rear posts act as stops for your loads, so your fork lift operator does not have to guess how far into the nestable pallet the load should go. Many sizes and load capacities are available for Tier-Rack nesting racks.

If you are in the market for a nestable rack that can stack and save space while storing bulk items, the Nesting Rack is the product that will serve you best in your warehouse.  Don't spend another day precariously stacking other racks or leaving bulk bags sitting around your warehouse.  Get organized and save space with Nesting Racks from Tier-Rack.

Call us every day at 800-325-7869 or visit www.tier-rack.com to order your Stack Racks and build your warehouse today!

Stack Rack Safety Tips From Tier-Rack

We here at Tier-Rack Corp believe in a few things.  American-made products, quality materials, and the value of giving customers what they pay for come to mind.  But the most important thing we believe in is safety.  Tier-Rack has some rules that we like to send to customers to follow, in order to create a safer, more harmonious work environment.  Finding the balance between safety and productivity is difficult, and we feel that these rules will help your company properly use storage racks for any product, including tire racks, in a safe and secure manner.

*Do not carry more than one rack at a time. The racks are manufactured for static loads, not lateral loads.

*Always read the label on the rack for its weight capacity and stack height.

*Do not overload racks. Tier-Rack stack racks are engineered to withstand twice the capacity rate just in case this happens.

*Do not use racks with damaged posts or bases. This (as with any type of racking) will greatly reduce the safety of the racking. We suggest if posts or bases are damaged, to call us and we will make replacements for your racks. Then please recycle the damaged material as soon as possible, so no one will grab and use them.

*Do not stack any higher than is stated on the label. Each rack is engineered specifically for each customer's maximum weight capacity. If they are stacked higher than they were engineered for, it could cause safety problems for employees.

*Tier-Rack engineers each rack to store product(s) to a given specification that is printed on the label. These calculations assume the weight on the rack is evenly distributed across the rack. Basically, don’t store anything heavy on one side and lightweight on the other. I know it is common sense, but it is good to share this information with the fork truck drivers and employees that may load the racks with product.

*Do not fabricate (drill holes, grind, cut) the posts or bases of the racks without contacting Tier-Rack first. This can cause safety concerns down the road. We can have our engineers on staff calculate if these practices will affect the integrity of the steel and it’s performance short term and long term.

*If you lose a label for the rack, just give us a call and we can send you replacement labels for you. Our labels are heavy duty and last for years, but sometimes they are damaged and knocked off. This is important because it tells your workers the specifications for the rack. If the label is missing it should be replaced immediately.

*Please call Tier-Rack if you are going to ever use the racks for shipment in your trucks or trailers. We can determine if they can safely be stacked, or they may not be stacked while shipping.

We feel that following these rules will help keep your employees safe and sound in their interactions with our racks and will give your company a safer work environment.  Feel free to print this list for your workplace to let your employees know the guidelines for rack safety, so that they can be as safe as possible and keep your company moving forward into the future.  Visit www.tier-rack.com today for more information.

Tier-Rack Stack Racks Improve Warehouse Efficiency

Every warehouse needs to ensure that they run efficiently.  There are certain ways to ensure this, beyond buying the right racks from Tier-Rack.  Here's our list of five ways to ensure that your warehouse runs efficiently and safely.

1. Processes Lead to Accountability

Create a series of processes in your warehouse that will make sure that your employees are accountable for inventory and safety.  Make them part of the solution, rather than part of the problem.  Employees that are invested in the safety and viability of the warehouse will make it run more smoothly.

2. When You Make Changes, Let Everyone Know

Post new warehouse policies.  Have meetings.  Build a rapport with the employees in the warehouse to make sure that everyone is on the same page.  All of these will make sure that your employees feel that they have been informed and know what to do.

3. Get Managers and Decision-Makers On the Floor

Senior leadership and managers make decisions all of the time about how the warehouse operates.  Shouldn't they have a first-hand knowledge of the operation?  Let them walk the floor.  Give them an opportunity to see the procedures in action.  Get hands-on occasionally.  This helps in two ways.  It gives decision makers much needed intelligence on the operation at ground level, and it shows the employees in the warehouse that their bosses do care about what happens in the warehouse.

4. Have the Right Configuration

Using the right warehouse configuration for your product and space is crucial.  The key to this is flexibility.  Being able to reconfigure the warehouse on the fly ensures that you can adapt to changes in inventory and personnel.  That's why a Stack Rack from Tier-Rack Corporation is a great fit for any warehouse.  Tier-Rack is a leading manufacturer of quality stack rack, portable rack, storage bins, warehouse rack and specialty shipping racks.  Tier-Rack has been in business for over 55 years and actually manufactures rack in our own facilities out of quality materials, we never use thinner 16 GA material.

Stack racks are durable, portable, collapsible, shippable, low-cost stacking racks that reduce costly product damage associated with bulk stacking, offers better space utilization, product identification and easier handling of product.

Factory direct prices on new and used portable stacking storage racks, pallet stacking frames and rigid or collapsible corrugated metal containers move more material, cut handling time. Pallet stacking frames utilize airspace, save floor space. Tier-Rack style nest-able storage racks can safely stack up to 5 high. Bulk stack safely while preventing product damage. Stack racks have a high-quality powder coat paint finish. Store difficult-to-handle items. Knockdown or nests when empty. Attachable sides, posts, or end frames. Stack rack is excellent for tire storage.

Common terms for stack racks are stackable box, stackable container, stackable pallet, stackable racks, stacker, stackers, stackable storage bins, stacking bins, stacking pallet, stack and rack, or simply stacking rack. If you need some advice on selecting the best solution for your application. Please feel free to call us, and one of our knowledgeable sales representatives would be happy to help you. See why Tier-Rack has been the leader in stack rack since 1955.

Tier-Rack's portable stack rack is preferred to common pallet rack for many applications due to it's flexibility.  It can be bulk stored with no aisles to save space on non-perishable items or condensed down and moved to a corner when not in use for seasonal items.  Stack rack can also serve to ship product out to customers or move product around your warehouse.

Store Tires Longer With Tire Racks

Many companies store tires.  Whether they are manufacturers, retailers, repair shops, or businesses that need to replace tires often, like bus companies or taxi services, they need a way to store multiple tires safely, and many times, to ship them effectively as well.  Finding a way to store these tires is a constant battle between storing as much as possible, being able to easily access these tires, and being able to organize your warehouse.  Luckily, Tier-Rack Corporation has a way around this.

The Tier-Rack Stacking Rack, invented by Tier-Rack in 1955, is the industry leader in creating vertical, portable space in your warehouse.  The original Tier-Rack® pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load-Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs.

All styles of racking are engineered to meet and/or exceed the "2-to-1" safety factor established by the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) for portable rack design specifications.

With Tire Racks, this is very important.  Tires must be stored so that there is not an excessive amount of pressure on the tire, which can cause warping and soft spots, damaging the live expectancy of the tire.  These can lead to blowouts and dangerous conditions, and angry customers as well!

For more information on Tire Racks and other Stacking Racks, visit www.tier-rack.com today, and call 1-800-325-7869 to speak to our sales team!

Warehouse Racks For Colder Weather

As the seasons turn, the challenges for your warehouse change with them.  Gone are the long days and high temperatures of summer, and the early dark and freezing temps of winter are closer than they appear.  When you run a warehouse, it's imperative that you stay ahead of the curve on the weather.  Here's some tips for getting your warehouse ready for the winter.

Shut The Doors

The huge open doors that every warehouse needs are a liability when it comes to maintaining the health and comfort of your employees in the warehouse.  They do a great job of letting you get your stock in and out, but they also do a great job of letting the heat out and bringing in cold air.  It's vital to ensure that the doors are equipped with large plastic strips to help keep that warm air from escaping.

They're easy to install and will save you money on heating, along with maintaining a consistent temperature.  Also, get your employees into the habit of closing these doors whenever possible.

Control The Flow

Even if you have perfectly placed heaters running full blast, you can still run into air flow issues.  Making the hot air in your warehouse run entirely in the direction that you want it to go may involve moving some racks.  If you have Tier-Rack Stack Racks, they're easy to move around the warehouse to maximize airflow.  If your racks are difficult to move, you may want to consider replacing them with more mobile racks, or wire frame racks that allow for better airflow.

This will help your warehouse stay warmer throughout the season.

More POWER

If these tips haven't fixed your heating issue, consider adding more heat.  It's not just giant industrial heaters that do the trick, though.  Walk the warehouse.  Find the coldest places and pick up portable heaters for your employees.  We've talked to companies that have made their employees BUY their own heaters.  Frankly, a cold warehouse is YOUR fault.  Don't compound the error by making your employees fix this themselves.

Also, look for areas that may not be covered, cracked windows, uninsulated areas, and fix them.  You'll be glad when the heating and a/c bills come.

Hopefully we've helped you with some tips to keep the warehouse warm this winter that you can implement NOW and get a head start.  If you're interested in transforming your warehouse more substantially, Tier-Rack can help! Storage Racks 101

Are you suffocating under your supply?  Is your warehouse a mess?  Do you feel like you’re just not organized, and it’s keeping your warehouse from being the efficient system that it should be?

In this case they place their product directly on our mobile rack and save the cost of wooden pallets.

The protection provided by the corner posts of the portable rack is a primary benefit. Bulky or hard-to-stack products are contained within the corner posts of the mobile storage racks. This provides stability for goods on the portable pallet when moving it within the warehouse or factory.

Others who use wood pallets and need to stack without causing product damage, find that our Tier-Rack® Pallet Stacking Frames fits their needs.

Tire Racks Help Your Business

Tire Racks can help your business in a variety of ways.  Whether you are a wholesaler of tires, or a dealer directly to the consumer or a distributor to large companies, an effective rack is essential to your workflow.  Unfortunately, a tire rack is not a one size fits all proposition.  This creates a conundrum for organizations that deal in many different sizes of tires, from consumer class passenger tires to high-performance sport tires, to trailer and industrial machine tires.  Custom racks are sometimes necessary to keep your inventory organized and accessible.

The essential furniture for a manufacturer or seller of tires can be acquired through a variety of means.  There are distributors and wholesalers across the world that can deliver a quality product, or a low price, or excellent customer service. There's one company, however, that excels in all three phases of this operation.  Tier-Rack, of St. Louis, MO, is the largest manufacturer of stack racks in the United States, and they're not a dealer or someone else's distributor.  They are the first person you talk to when ordering, and they are the people you call for customer service.  They're the low-cost, high service alternative to re-sellers and distributors, who disappear when a problem arises.  Tier-Rack also creates custom designs, one of the advantages of being both sales and manufacturing.  They sub nothing out to fabricators or third-party manufacturers, creating every rack themselves.  When customers need assistance with anything from engineering to local inspectors, Tier-Rack is there to help and make sure that there is no interruption in your business.  All products from Tier-Rack are also proudly manufactured in the United States, in our facilities, ensuring the highest quality and care goes into every rack.

Tier-Rack Corporation has been a leader in rack solutions and flexible warehouse racking systems for fifty years. The original Tier-Rack® pallet stacking frame converts regular warehouse pallets into sturdy storage racks in seconds without screws or bolts. And the Load-Nester® all-steel storage rack features light and heavy-duty models of solid all-welded, knock-down, or nestable designs for all your material handling needs. Our stack racks reduce handling time, stack four to six high, and they are capable of supporting thousands of pounds per unit load. All styles of racking are engineered to meet and/or exceed the "2-to-1" safety factor established by the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) for portable rack design specifications. Warehouse Stack Rack Tips For a Great Summer

It’s a hot summer.  Nothing slows down production like a heat wave in your warehouse.  Think about it though – couldn’t your warehouse run more efficiently and quickly if the workers are comfortable?  As anyone who runs a warehouse can tell you, being uncomfortable leads to rushing leads to mistakes.  Here are a few ways to deal with warehouse heat and humidity to help make your warehouse run more efficiently through the summer.

What can you do

  1. Install high-volume A/C units.  Fastest and safest method to reduce heat and humidity.  May not be as effective if you have large bay doors that are open constantly, and doesn’t help outdoor workers.
  2. Some machinery is prone to overheating.  Make sure that if you have conveyor belts or other machinery that doesn’t perform well in the heat, try to keep it in the cooler parts of the building.
  3. Know your employees and workforce.  Not everyone handles the heat as well as others.  If you have employees that have trouble with the heat, consider moving them to a cooler area or giving them frequent breaks.
  4. Watering stations can really help with cooldown.  Keep stations at regular intervals and assign employees and resources to keep them filled.  An employee with heatstroke is a serious matter.  Not just lost work time, but a human being hurt in your warehouse.  If you see signs of heatstroke, or your employees do, rectify that right away.  Tell your employees to watch for signs such as dizziness and loss of breath.
  5. Lock in the cool air.  Vinyl strips can keep in as much as 60% of your cold air without disrupting the workflow of your warehouse.
  6. Industrial dehumidifiers are a huge comfort to employees. Taking the humidity down makes an immediate difference in the health and comfort of your workforce.

These are just some of the ways that you can make your warehouse more comfortable and effective.
